AI Storyteller

The role

You will own the AI beat — models, coding agents, API platforms, benchmarks, and the tools developers actually ship with. Not hype pieces. Real reviews that hold up six months later.

What you will do

• Write 3-4 longform pieces per week on AI models, tools, and developer platforms
• Run independent benchmarks and explain results without hand-waving
• Build relationships with AI researchers, open-source maintainers, and API product leads
• Spot trends before they hit Hacker News — release notes, GitHub repos, Discord channels
• Collaborate with the data team on model comparison tables and live leaderboards

What you need

• 2+ years covering AI, developer tools, or software infrastructure
• You can explain a transformer architecture without drawing a Venn diagram
• Published clips that link to primary sources — GitHub repos, papers, API docs
• Comfortable with CLI, APIs, and running your own evaluations
• Fast drafter who does not sacrifice accuracy for speed

Nice to have

• You have shipped code or contributed to open-source AI projects
• Experience with LLM evaluation frameworks (lm-eval-harness, MMLU, SWE-bench)
• You maintain a blog or newsletter with a real audience
